What I Ate Wednesday No.68

Breakfast

For the final day of our holiday we went out for breakfast in a quaint tea shop in cheddar.  The food tasted amazing and the veggie breakfast consisted of a had brown, sauce potatoes, tomato, mushrooms, 2 poached eggs, 2 vegetable sausages, baked beans and 2 slices of bread.  Dare I say it was a challenge...but I managed to eat it all!

Lunch - None!  Not an inch of room left inside me, that mammoth breakfast kept me going all day.

Dinner

Partners Birthday Meal - Firstly excuse the quality of the picture, it was an evening meal and the restaurant was candlelight.  This was a vegetable pizza at a local Italian and whilst it may look like it has mushrooms it in in fact aubergine, courgette and red peppers!  It was also MASSIVE and very tasty!

Recent Clothing & Beauty Purchases

Hi everyone

I recently picked up a few new items whilst out shopping.  Hollister had a sale on (when don't they?) and I managed to pick up a few bargains.  There are also a couple beauty essentials which I am loving.  So first off the clothes.

This cosy cream and light brown jumper with Aztec design on the front and ends of the sleeves was just £15.99.

I thought that these basic long sleeve top would be ideal for Spring at only £6.99. I felt that I couldnt really go wrong and picked up a teal one and a cream one.

I had been on the look out for a long waterproof coat for some time.  I found this navy one and it fitted the bill perfectly.  It is padded & warm and has a huge hood with a soft fluffy lining.

It was £46.99 in the sale.  It has already come in handy for all this windy wet weather where a brolly just won't stay up!

I have found a new fave mascara and that is the Bare Minerals Lash Domination.  It gives a good amount of lift and definition as the name suggests.  I do find it gives me some clumps at times but hey is there really a 100% perfect mascara?  If there is I haven't found it as yet - if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below.

Lastly I had been wanting to give this moisturiser a go since seeing the Jennifer Anniston advert.  I spotted it on sale in Boots for £5.08 and picked one up.  I have to say I really like it.  It is fragrance free and does keep my skin feeling moisturised for a long time.

4 Porridge Topping Ideas

As some of you may have seen from my What I Ate Wednesday posts, I am an avid porridge lover.  It is all too easy to get stuck in a rut of adding the same toppings or type of milk to your porridge each day.  So I thought that I would share 4 of my current favourite porridge toppings.

1. Sliced Banana & Peanut Butter
1 sliced banana with a drizzle of peanut butter - Tasty combo!  It just works so well together and the banana makes it extra filling.  I also use Meridian 100% peanut butter.

2. Biscoff Swirled
For a cheeky treat a bowl of porridge topped with Lotus Biscoff caramelised spread goes down beautifully!

I have actually done a whole other post on my love of Biscoff Biscuit Spread, which you can read here.

3. Bounty
I recently discovered Koko coconut milk as it was part of my Degusta box (which you can find a review on here).  I thought I would give it a go with porridge and it made for extra creamy and really tasty porridge.  I then decided to add chocolate chips and oh-my-god a bowl of porridge that tasted like a Bounty chocolate bar!  If you are a Bounty fan please give this one a try and let me know what you think.

4. Cinnamon Jumble
Whitworths have brought out these new fusion jumbles.  I have become fond of sprinkling some on top my porridge and then adding some extra cinnamon.  It adds a little crunch and bags of flavour.  Yum!

Are you planning to try any of these for yourself?

Vegan burger, sweet potato wedges and petit pois - A vegan burger (made using the Jamie Oliver Vegan burger recipe), sweet potato wedges baked in coconut oil, served with petit pois and a little Lurpak light.  Drink = water.

Chocolate Pasta with Butterscotch & Pecan sauce

I had a very random dinner last night, I guess it was a cross between dinner and a dessert as it was sweet not savoury!

I bought some Hotel Chocolat Penne cocoa pasta ages ago in the Bath Hotel Chocolat store.
Cocoa Pasta

I had a recipe in mind which I saw Nigella make on TV many moons ago.  It is Chocolate pasta with pecan butterscotch sauce.  Below is a picture of the ingredients I used, the  recipe serves 2 and can be found in the link above.

Here are the ingredients you will need.

It was really easy to make and with only minimal ingredients.  The pecans were rather expensive which was a tad annoying, I will ensure none of them go to waste though.

Here is the finished result!  It tasted really nice but I have to admit it did get a little sickly towards the end, I will defo be making it again though.
Et Voila!

The cocoa pasta doesn't have to be a sweet dish though there are plenty of savoury recipes available.

Do you think you would enjoy this?
