4 Tips to Get Out of Bed Easier Each Morning

I have to get up early (5:10am) for work every weekday and I thought I would share with you my top 4 tips for getting up on time.  I hope that you will find some of the tip useful.

1.  Bed Time

It sounds so obvious but it starts with forcing yourself to go to bed at a reasonable time that allows you to have the amount of sleep that you require.  A colleague goes to bed late every night and gets up early and then sits there yawning and moaning all day about being tired "It is your own fault mate!"

2. Winding Down

It is best to allow time for your mind and body to wind down.  So instead of browsing on your laptop or phone right before bed, allow 30mins of wind down time where you read a book or chill out.

3.  Light Therapy

Try using a wake up light, I have the Lumie IRIS which mimics a gradual sunrise.  I set it for 30mins before my alarm is due to go off.  It gently increases in brightness and this particular one has aromatherapy so releases an uplifting scent (I am currently using pink grapefruit) whilst the sunrise is underway.

4.  Alarm

Set your alarm for a time which allows you a sufficient amount of time to get ready but does not allow you to snooze.

As soon as your alarm does go off get up straight away before you have chance to dwell or realise what you are doing.  Do not press snooze - if you are anything like me then it will make you feel worse and make it even harder to emerge from your pit!

Do you have any top tips for getting out of bed in the mornings?

11 Things Tag

I have not been tagged as such but I spotted this on Emily at Emily and Indiana blog.

1. Where is your favourite country/place you have visited?
Orlando, Florida and all the theme parks there.  I last went in April this year.  Closely followed by NYC which I went to for the first time last year.

2. Name your top 5 celebrity crushes
Ooh umm Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Reynolds, Lewis Hamilton, Jamie Redknapp & Jenson Button.

3. How do you feel about piercing babies ears? There’s a whole debate right now over it being called ‘abuse’
I'm not a fan but personally would not categorise it as abuse.  Smoking while pregnant on the other hand...😡!

4. What is your dream career?
Often careers can sound good but in reality are very different.  It would be cool to run a doggy day care/puppy training classes, though reality may differ.

5. If you could re live any moment in your life, what would it be?
Not sure I want to relive any moment of my life.

6. Cats or dogs?
Most definitely dogs!  Love em (as you may have guessed by question 4's answer) & really want 1 or 2!

7. Top 3 things to help you survive a day?
Food, water and my partner!

8. PC or Mac?
Have a MacBook Pro so Mac all the way.  Have to deal with a laggy PC at work all day :(

9. Have you ever won anything?
I've won a couple small competitions most recently it was Graze breakfast cereal from The Witt Family blog.

10. Heels or flats?
Flats, I wear trainers whenever possible, my favourite footwear type as I like to be comfy!  I can't walk in ballet pumps though, much to my annoyance.

11. Camping or Spa holiday?
Definitely a spa holiday...sounds quite tempting actually!  I done the whole Glastonbury and Reading festival scene when I was younger. Urgh the stinky portaloo  memories are returning *gags*

If you are reading this I tag you to complete it on your blog.  Please leave your links below so I can take a look at your answers.

Bye for now!

5 Things I Dislike & Why

Here is a quick run down of 5 things that I dislike and why:

Primark
I don't like Primark and I never have.  I just don't see anything in there I want to buy.  I find the clothes are often poor quality.  I have nothing against anyone that shops there, the majority of people love it   I can especially see why it may be ideal for babies and children as they grow out of clothes so fast that it is not worth spending lots.  Maybe my local Primark just isn't that good.

Coffee
I don't like coffee. I like the smell of it especially when it's wafting from a coffee shop door but my tastebuds just don't like the taste of it at all.  Not even when its inside a chocolate or a cake or a mocha...nope, not touching it with a barge pole thank you very much.

Centre of Attention
I don't like being centre of attention.  I am naturally a shy person.  Therefore you will never find me doing presentations or public speaking.  It is just not something I will ever enjoy and I feel that's okay.  It is not a problem.  It would be boring if we were all the same.

Materialism
Okay so we are all materialistic to some extent in this day and age.  It is just it seems to be increasing rapidly and damn is it ugly to see!  I do wonder how parents can even try to shield their children from it these days as it is spreading like a disease. The latest toys, gadgets or car are used as some kind of status symbol.
In order to try and keep my own materialism in check I ask myself before purchases if I NEED it and will I USE it - simple really.

What are your dislikes?

My 'Wedding Guest' Outfit

Hi everyone,

After much deliberating over the past few months I have finally got my wedding guest outfit sorted for a family wedding this month.  It is set to be a local and low-key wedding and it is always nice for all the family to have a reason to get together.  As it is wedding season I thought some of you may be interested in seeing the final outfit I decided on.

In dresses I would normally opt for a skater style dress as that is what tends to suit my shape best but I fancied wearing something different so was looking at midi dresses and maxi dresses.  In the end I chose a gorgeous navy and beige dress from New Look from the Laced In Love brand which was the perfect fit when I tried it on.  It normally costs £48.00 but I got 10% off so it was £43.20.

Navy & Beige Maxi Dress

I have included a close up of the top half of the dress (below) which has a cinched in gold and silver embellished waist.  There is a keyhole slit in the middle of the beige part, I know you can't really see that from this photo, its a little more visible when on but nothing too revealing.  The lace sections either side are opaque.

It took me a while to find a bag that I liked to go with the dress.  Ideally I wanted a bag that wasn't only suited to wedding and special occasions, something that I could get some use out of.  So in the end I went for this cream and gold bag from River Island which cost £18.00.

River Island Bag

I searched online and in stores for a smart navy bolero but I just couldn't find what I wanted. In the end I went for this navy stole from Accesorize so that I had a little cover up for my arms in the evening.

My footwear was purchased at the last minute and I went for comfort with a small heel (you can catch a glimpse of them in the pic below).  As much as I love beautiful high heels, I can't walk in them to save my life.  I also don't need the extra height as I am tall.

Here is how the outfit came together on the day...

Review: Warsaw Diner, Nottingham

During a recent trip to Nottingham I discovered the Warsaw Diner and decided to do a post about it.  It is an American style diner (with a polish influence) which is just off the Derby Road about 10 minutes walk up the hill from Old Market Square in the city centre.

The interior decor includes a bar around the kitchen area with stools and the black and white tiled floor aligns with the American influenced menu with an array of breakfast items including pancakes, waffles, omelettes and milkshakes.

I believe it is open Tuesday to Sunday 09:30 - 14:00 and as it is small and popular expect a wait during peak times.  Takeaway is also available as I saw them packaging up some brekkies in takeaway boxes.  Inside it is table service and some of the meals come with bottomless coffee (or tea if you prefer).

I went for 'The Lone Star' option on the menu which was a choice of waffles or pancakes (as you can see below I went for the pancakes) with fruit and syrup.  I had a strawberry and mango smoothie to accompany it.

The Lone Star

My partner chose 'The Empire State Breakfast' which consisted of 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, a hash brown and for the chosen item he had french toast.  I had a little taste of the french toast and the hash browns and both were really tasty.

The food prices were reasonable and the portion size was good for the money.  I have included a picture of the menu below to give you an idea of what is available.

Drinks Menu
As you can see there are plenty of vegetarian options. I have also included a picture of the specials which were on offer.  If you wish to avoid the 50p card transaction fee I would advise you take cash.

So if you are ever in Nottingham and in need of an American style diner...I highly recommend trying out the Warsaw Diner.
