What I Ate Wednesday No.3

Breakfast: Porridge with mashed banana and a cup of tea.

Lunch:  During the morning I had a cereal bar and 2 flat peaches. Then at 12:30 I had a Subway veggie patty with cucumber, tomato and green pepper on honey oat bread with cheese and toasted.  There is no pic of lunch I am afraid, I as far too eager to eat it and forgot to take a pic!

Dinner: Potato wedges with homemade 4 bean Quorn chilli (it turned out a tad spicy for me!), topped with crushed tortilla chips and grated mature cheddar cheese.

Breakfast:
Porridge with agave nectar & strawberries & a cup of tea.

Lunch:
4 Jacobs sweet chill thins with 2 Laughing Cow triangle soft cheeses.  Activia pear yogurt (my fave Activia yogurt flavour), 2 flat peaches, handful of strawberries (British strawberries are SO good at the moment) & a Special K cereal bar.  This was eaten throughout out my 8hr day at work and was down with a couple pints of water.

Dinner: Gnocchi fried in butter with chilli flakes & grated cheese (give it a go!) with 2 Glamorgan veggie sausages from Tesco & peas.  Half a pint of water.

Then a cups of tea and a biscuit to settle down with in front the TV in the evening.

Waterside Holiday Park, Weymouth

The Waterside Holiday Park and Spa is located at the end of the no through road in Bowleaze Cove.  The holiday park is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach and the Beachside Leisure Centre which has amusements, soft play, a licensed restaurant, fish and chip shop, gift shop and ice cream parlour.

Bowleaze Cove & the Beachside Leisure Centre

It is also just 2 miles from Weymouth town centre and it is a lovely walk or cycle ride along the beach or footpath.  You will find a beautiful beach, the famous Weymouth clock and a mix of small gift shops and your usual high street shops.

There is so much to do in and around Weymouth itself; there is Sea Life Centre, Pirate Adventure Mini Golf, The Front Skatepark and Sea Life viewing tower.

If you want to head slightly further afield to Lulworth Cove you will find the world famous stone arch Durdle Door.  Or there is always Portland Bill Lighthouse located on the Isle of Portland.

There are also some lovely countryside walks in the fields and along the cliff tops.

The caravans themselves are spacious, well equipped and all site owned caravans feature central heating, double glazing, large televisions and 2 toilets as standard.

The holiday park has a Spar shop, Laundrette, indoor swimming pool with slides, heated outdoor pool (seasonal), sauna, steam room, spa, gym, outdoor gym, children's play park, soft play, amusements, and 2 small bowling alleys.  There is entertainment in the club every night during peak season (see the website for the schedule).

The site is so tidy and well kept throughout with hard standings for your car right next to each caravan.  This really sets it apart from other caravan sites I have stayed at.

This is hands down THE best caravan park in Weymouth.  I have been to this site every year for the past 25 years and I throughly recommended it!

Foodie Faves & Fails Vol.1

I thought I would share a few food items which i have recently discovered and my opinion of them.

First up we have Nairns cracked black pepper oatcakes.
I purchased these from Tesco and they are so tasty with soft cheese smothered on top.  The oatcakes are sealed in packs of 5 which helps to keep them fresh.  They are naturally energising, high in fibre and made with wholegrain oats.  They are limited edition so if you would like to try them move fast (available at Tesco and Waitrose)!

I have seen lots of people drinking Vita Coco coconut milk recently and I love coconut so I thought I would give it a try.  Unfortunately, my taste buds did not take to it for some reason. It it 100% natural and great for staying naturally hydrated.  I know they do flavoured versions too so maybe I will give one of those a try.
It is worth reading the story on the website of how coconut water came about, well I found it a pretty interesting read anyway.

A drink I am loving at the moment is Copella Apple & Raspberry juice.
This is so sweet and yummy I can't get enough of it!  I limit myself to a max of 1 small glass per day though.

I have never in my life tried a flat peach so I purchased some today and will give one a whirl soon (they are too hard right now)!

Graze Breakfast Box Review

I am great lover of breakfast so I was so excited when I saw Graze were starting to do breakfast boxes.  My favourite breakfast is porridge so I was more excited about the porridges than I was the granolas.  However, although the porridge flavours are set out online they are not selling them as yet so it is just the granolas to choose from at present.

The boxes are £3.99 delivered. There are 15 granolas to choose from and all the flavours sounded like they were worth a try.  I selected my top 4 and checked the 'send soon' box in the hope I would receive them in my first box.  I was so excited to see my box arrive on the planned day and it contained all 4 of the granolas I wanted to try first.

The Graze box contained:

Honey Hunter - honey baked oats with pecans, almonds, walnuts and hazelnuts - your basic granola really, yummy & filling!

Rugged Maple Pecan - maple granola, pecans, chopped hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds & malt coated oats - really tasty!

Dark chocolate orange - chocolate orange granola, orange peel, dark chocolate curls, pumpkin seeds & almond slices - every bite tasted like chocolate-orange, really nice!

Summer fayre - blueberry granola, apple, strawberry pieces, crispy rice flakes & rye flakes - nice & fruity tasting!

After seeing the calorie information (around 350 calories plus milk) these will be an occasional (yummy) weekend treat!

Nutritional Information
The portion size was perfect.  My favourite was dark chocolate and orange.

Looking forward to next weeks box!

What I Ate Wednesday No.1

OK, so here it goes my very first WIAW blog.  Firstly, a bit of a disclaimer I am a vegetarian and i am NOT on a diet or healthy eating plan in any way, shape or form.  This is just what I fancied eating that day.

Breakfast:
I am really loving porridge oats at the moment.  My topping on this occasion was a drizzle of golden syrup and accompanied by a cup of Tetley Tea.

I buy Quaker 2 minute oat sachets as they are so quick and easy. All you need to do is empty the oats into a bowl and add milk upto the line on the sachet and pour it on and you know you will end up with the perfect consistency.  I have found that it only needs 1 minute 40 seconds (instead of 2 minutes) to be at my chosen consistency.

Lunch:
The following packed lunch was eaten throughout my working day in the office.  Special K Red Berries cereal bar, banana, peanut butter topped oatcakes, a Alpro peach soya yogurt and a pot of 6 strawberries (not shown).  I drank 2 500ml glasses of water during the working day.

On arrival home from work (approx 4pm) I had a cup of tea with a chocolate digestive biscuit.

Dinner (or 'tea' as I call it): Organic wholewheat pasta with sun dried tomato & basil sauce with broccoli (there is more than the pic shows, it's just buried!) & garlic bread. Washed down with 250ml of water.

Finally, a cup of tea and another chocolate digestive biscuit.  I LOVE tea and biscuits - 'typical Brit'!

So are people interested in reading more What I Ate Wednesday posts?  Too boring for y'all?
